About registration

The next Bergen-Voss event will be arranged on Saturday the 4th of June 2016.

• What is the age limit?

Cyclists can take part the year they turn 17. There is no upper age limit.

• How/where do I register?

Registration is done online in Norwegian. However, to help foreigners through the different stages of the registration system we will provide an English translation. Print these pages out and use them when registering. Registration closes on the 1st of May. It is not possible to register on the day of the event, 4th of June 2016.

• Licence?

Riders are required to have a cycling licence when taking part in cycle sportive events in Norway. (because of insurance) Norwegian riders can choose between an annual licence (obtained through their local cycling club) or a one day licence. The insurance part of the one day license that the Norwegian Cycling Union issues is only valid for norwegian citizens, or foreigners who are members of The Norwegian National Insurance Scheme.

An annual licence can be obtained in your resident country, but this normally means that you have to be a registered member of a cycling club. Contact your national cycling union for more information and check that the insurance they offer you also covers you when abroad. When collecting their start numbers at race HQ, participants not covered by the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme will be asked to sign an Athlete’s Declaration form, confirming among other things that they have a valid sports or travel insurance that covers them during the event. • When will I start?

All riders will leave Bergen between 05:30 and 07:30. The precise times will be announced in May.

• Refund of the registration fee? Reselling your registration?

Registration for Bergen-Voss is binding, and your registration fee will not be refunded if you cannot participate. This also includes in the case of illness. The organisers are neither able to resell your start number for you. We suggest that you resell your start number through www.finn.no (Norwegian equivalent of eBay). Extras that you have ordered (one day licence, return transport to Bergen etc.) will follow the registration and be effective for the new owner. The last date for changing partisipant details in the registration system is the 1st of May. After this date the start numbers will be printed.

Should you resell your start number, the new owner must pay an administration change of kr. 200,- This is done in the registration system.

• Changing groups?

You can change groups until the 1st of May. You do this yourself, by reentering the registration system with the user name and password you received in an e.mail after your initial registration. If you have lost or deleted this e.mail you can order a new mail from the registration system here!

• Getting to Bergen?

There are many direct flights to Bergen from central connecting airports like Copenhagen, Amsterdam and London. If you plan to fly to Bergen with your bike, we advise you to make Bergen your point of entry into Norway. If you fly via Oslo you will have to fetch your bike there and check it in once again. From Hirtshals in Denmark it is possible to take a ferry to Bergen. Check out www.fjordline.no If already in Norway there are several methods of getting to Bergen. You can get here by buss (from several other cities) or by train (from Oslo). Check out www.nsb.no (Norwegian rail) The train line from Oslo passes over the beautiful Hardangervidda (Hardanger plateau) and is an experience in itself!
